Gotlieb has performed both as a soloist as well as a part of musical ensembles that range from duets to full band lineups. He is comfortable playing genres including traditional and modern jazz, fusion, progressive rock, jam band, and funk. Gotlieb has performed in a variety of venues, including private events, parties, festivals, wineries, pubs, and public concerts. He is available as both a session musician for recording projects and as a performer for both solo and band gigs. He is currently a pianist, keyboardist and vocalist for the Tie Dye Blues Band, a jam band based in Marin.

Gotlieb composes and arranges music for both solo piano and ensemble in a variety of styles including jazz, fusion, funk, rock, folk, and classical, often blurring the line between them. He has composed, arranged, recorded, and released eight albums of original works since 2020. Sheet music is available for purchase below. From 2024-2025, Gotlieb also created his Circadian Songs project, a collection of 400 songs composed every day for a year with a Creative Commons Zero designation for full public creative use.

In addition, Gotlieb is a lyricist for various types of music, inspired by literary traditions of surrealism, metafiction, stream-of-consciousness, and beat poetry. He is available for hire as a composer, lyricist, and arranger for musical acts, film, television, stage, video games, and other creative mediums.
